Learning Journal 3
Hi all,
In this learning journal 3, I will divide the discussions into BP's and SM's column. Before that, let me make some notes on the past comments. Firstly, many thanks to all of you who have spent some of your time visiting my blog. I hope you do it, not because of me promoting d blog (anyway, I take that as one of the reasons) but because you choose to share your views with me and also the rest. I am happy that the comments does say something about what you think of your learning process and I hope it will be something meaningful and treasured for the rest of your life.
For BP's VIPs - our first case discussion went well, thanks to the team who have enlightened the discussion. So, what do you think of the case study presentation and the discussion ? Does it help to improve your analytical skills ? Do you think what you have learned during lecture and discussion of current issues does help in understanding the concept better. Hope all of you have a clearer picture on the Porter's model. (Not to mention, the case of MAS and Air Asia which helps us alot).
For SM's VIPs - 1st secondary data presentation went quite well, most of the group are on the right track while few are still struggling between the industry, client's and the SBU. Anyway, I hope my role as the 'devil advocates' does help. The weekly pesentation maybe a bit 'tight' as you have to be on your feet all the time. I think this is a good practice - 'time waits for no one' and if you keep on telling yourself - you don't have time, then there won't be any. Anyway - share with me your thoughts on this weekly secondary data presentation: how does it helps you in understanding the process of formulating the marketing strategy ?Does it help to improve your understanding about the theories (what you have learned during lecture) and will you be able to analyse the data regarding the client's of your choice ?
Guess, I have asked too many questions...anyway happy reading and don't forget to leave a line...

i guessed that sifu's "grilling" us during the presentation is very helpful expecially when there are points that are left out which should be included. there's one chinese proverb that goes something like this 'the guy that is doing the task is not as clear as the ones looking at him doing the task' ... direct translations or sorts... got it?.. hehe :P my 2cents..

I agree as having these data presentations will prevent us students from doing "last minute" works..(which we love :P )and mistakes will be pointed out by Sifu which will indeed help us a lot.. I'm getting the hang of it now :P

Jm, Reiko and Chewy - I see all your points and I like that chinese proverbs. You are right JM but then you need to be attentive or else you will be missing the points. Hope all of you will have a splendid weekend besides doing the Re=Searching for the second secondary data presentation.

have a nice weekend urself 'sifu' but out of curiosity, what do u do on weekends? besides studying. juz curious to know what our 'sifus' do. hehe. well back to 're-searching' for the upcoming sec data presentation. tata.

i found out that when we learn something it also depend on the lecturer's performance and communication. i found out its very difficult for me to concerntrate when the lecturer are just talking to himself all the time without notice whether we understand what he say or not, and just keep on continue from the first minutes to lastmins of lect and talk non stop without giving a good example and so forth. even though we can go back and study our own, but if these situation keep on continue i wonder how i can improve :s... well Sifu, i think u r the best as you take consider in psychological aspect of giving us rest for few mins after 40min of lect.. and give lots of simple example so we can understand better. i think other lect also need to apply this concept so their effort in lecturing the student is worth it and not become a waste, because if student dont understand all the idea, whats the point of teaching rite.. i hope i dont hurt anyone here, cos thats how i feel toward some of the lect.. well thats it for today.. enjoy your weekend ya.. bye bye

Dear Akleincney - I see where are you coming from. In this case teaching n learning involves two parties; I think, maybe you can request from your lecturer a 'take 5' concept. I think he/she would love to do that. After all, all of us are here to guide you in your learning journey. Have a splendid weekend.

sham help)))) we sit for hours here and cant find any info on corporate structure... but instead we found competitor's corporate structure... :( corporate structure is what make the company as a whole rite, from the info that we read it do talk about the core brand structure is what what what.. so thats mean that their corporate structure is based on the brand on regional basis rite ~... i hope we doing good here.. god bless our group )))

i'm dying... so little info on our sbu in particular. all the info is based on the client on the whole but not on its sbu. arrrggghhh...
