just a suggestion on your research..

im one of ur student in sm class..
u were doing research on how chinese student think right?
here is a suggestion..

maybe u should divide them into 2 groups..

chinese educated chineses and english educated chineses

because both this respective group have their own different way of thinking..

in my opinion,
chinese educated chineses are more straight forward,like what u said,they prefer to memorise everything and pour it out when is needed..

as for english educated..they tends to understand the situation and use it at the right time..

this is just an opinion..

yeah.. quite a good idea cos not all of the chinese student know how to write chinese and some dont even know how to speak chinese.. haha.. what a shame :p but cant judge ppl on that way cos may be the family might want them to look at the west for more oppurtunities in the future..
